Today’s Catholic Reflection
Paul traveled through Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening the disciples in those areas. In Ephesus, he met Apollos, an eloquent Jew from Alexandria. Apollos was knowledgeable Scriptures and spoke accurately about Jesus, though he only knew of John's baptism. Priscilla and Aquila saw that he needed more instruction. They took him aside to explain the Way of God more fully. Encouraged by the brothers, Apollos later went to Achaia, where he helped many who believed in Jesus and effectively argued with the Jews, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
In the Gospel, Jesus spoke to his disciples about prayer. He assured them that whatever they ask the Father in his name will be granted. This promise leads to complete joy. He mentioned a time when he would speak plainly Father. Jesus affirmed the disciples' love for him and their belief in his divine origin. He highlighted their direct relationship with the Father, who loves them. He concluded by sharing that he would return to the Father after coming into the world.
