Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Hosea, the LORD shares His deep love for Israel. He recalls how He called them from Egypt and cared for them like a parent. Despite His nurturing, Israel turned away. They worshiped false gods and forgot Him as their healer. The LORD feels compassion and promises not to unleash His anger or destroy Ephraim again.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells His Apostles to share the news of the Kingdom of heaven. He encourages them to heal the sick and free those in bondage. They should travel light and depend on the kindness of others. If a town does not welcome them, they are to shake the dust from their feet and move on. This signifies the seriousness of rejecting the message they bring.
