Today’s Catholic Reflection

In 2 Corinthians, the speaker reflects on the fragility of human life. They compare it to earthen vessels that hold a divine treasure. Though they face afflictions, confusion, and persecution, their faith in God keeps them resilient. Their suffering has a purpose. It allows the life of Jesus to shine through them. They hold onto the promise of resurrection, knowing their struggles help others grow spiritually and bring glory to God.

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus encounters the mother of the sons of Zebedee. She asks for positions of honor for her sons in His kingdom. Jesus gently challenges her view of greatness. He teaches that true leadership comes through serving others. He contrasts worldly authority with humility, stating that those who want to be great must become servants. Jesus embodies this by serving and sacrificing for many, revealing what true greatness looks like in God's Kingdom.
