Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the passage from Isaiah, the Lord speaks to the people of Israel. He compares them to Sodom and Gomorrah. He is displeased with their sacrifices and rituals. Their actions do not bring Him joy because they are mixed with wickedness. The Lord asks them to change. He urges them to cleanse themselves, turn away from evil, and seek justice by caring for orphans and widows.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus talks to His Apostles difficulties of being His disciple. He warns that following Him may bring conflict, even among family members. Loyalty to Him must come before all other ties. Jesus assures His followers that those who welcome them will be rewarded. He highlights the importance of small acts of kindness. After sharing these teachings, He continues His ministry, reaching out to various towns.
