Today’s Catholic Reflection
Ezekiel receives a message from the Lord people of Israel. They are rebellious and stubborn in their ways. God tells Ezekiel to act out a symbolic exile. He must pack his belongings and move as if he were being taken into captivity. This display shows the fate of the Israelites, who do not see or hear their own disobedience. Ezekiel obeys and performs these actions to help the people understand their serious situation.
In the Gospel, Peter asks Jesus how often he should forgive someone who has wronged him. He suggests forgiving seven times. Jesus responds that forgiveness should go beyond that, saying seventy-seven times. He tells a parable about a king who forgives a servant a large debt. That same servant, however, refuses to forgive a smaller debt owed to him. When the king finds out, he punishes the unforgiving servant. This highlights the importance of showing compassion and forgiveness to others.
