Today's Catholic Highlights:

Church authorities have recently disclosed the official delegation that will accompany Pope Leo XIV on his forthcoming visit to Equatorial Guinea. The visit, which is scheduled for April 21-23, is highly anticipated by the Catholic community in the region.

In other news, a seminary established in Mexico in 1999 continues to prepare U.S. and Canadian seminarians to serve the growing Hispanic community in North America. The seminary focuses on teaching future priests Spanish language skills, as well as ecclesial and cultural traditions relevant to the Hispanic community.

Pope Leo XIV has announced a peace vigil to be held at St. Peter’s on April 11. In his inaugural Easter message, the Pope made a heartfelt plea to those in possession of weapons to lay them down. This call for peace aligns with the Pope’s ongoing commitment to promoting peace and unity within the global Catholic community.

In his first Easter as pontiff, Pope Leo XIV called on Christians to bring the hope of the Resurrection into a world marred by war, violence, and injustice. He expressed his wish that Christ, our Passover, would bless us and bring peace to the entire world.

Lastly, the story behind Italy’s famous Easter dove bread, known as “Colomba di Pasqua,” has been traced back to the sixth or seventh century. The legend involves a queen, a feast, and a group of Irish monks, and continues to be a significant part of Italian Easter traditions.
