Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the first reading from Philippians, Paul encourages the community to pursue their salvation with dedication. He reminds them to stay faithful and obedient, even when he is not there. Paul reassures them that God is working within them, guiding their desires and actions. He asks them to live without complaints, striving to be blameless and shining brightly in a troubled world. His joy in their faith is evident, and he invites them to share in that joy, even if he faces challenges for their sake.
The responsorial psalm speaks of trust in the Lord as a source of light and salvation. The psalmist expresses a desire to dwell in the Lord's presence and find strength in waiting for Him. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus addresses the large crowds and speaks cost of discipleship. He teaches that true followers must place their commitment to Him above family ties and personal possessions. He uses examples of planning and preparation to illustrate the seriousness of this choice.
