Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Ephesians, the author speaks to the community about their past distance from Christ and the promises made to Israel. Through Christ's sacrifice, those who were once far from God have been brought close. This act of reconciliation creates unity among believers and establishes peace. They become members of God's household, built on the teachings of the Apostles and prophets, with Christ as the cornerstone. The community is described as a sacred temple where God dwells through the Spirit.
The psalm reflects on the theme of peace, stating that God speaks peace to His people. It shares a hopeful vision of salvation and the harmony that arises when kindness and truth come together. Justice and peace are shown to be connected, with God promising blessings that foster growth and righteousness in the land. In the Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples to stay alert and prepared for His return, comparing them to servants waiting for their master. Those who are watchful will receive the master's care and attention when he arrives.
