Today’s Catholic Reflection
In 1 Kings, God speaks to Solomon in a dream. He offers Solomon anything he desires. Solomon asks for wisdom to lead his people. He knows he is young and inexperienced. God is pleased with this humble request and grants him unmatched wisdom, ensuring that no one will ever be as wise as Solomon. This wisdom lays the groundwork for his reign as a just king.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus shares parables that show the value of the kingdom of heaven. He compares it to a hidden treasure and a precious pearl. Those who see its worth will give up everything to gain it. He also tells of a net that catches fish of every kind. At the end of time, these will be sorted, separating the righteous from the wicked. Jesus notes the importance of those taught in the kingdom, who can draw from both new and old teachings to deepen their understanding.
