In an interview with ACI Prensa, CNA’s Spanish-language news partner, Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk said: “We live in constant psychological terror and, according to the latest polls, 60% of the Ukrainian population lives in fear of a military attack by the Russian side.”
“On behalf of the Ukrainian people, I ask you to pray for peace in Ukraine, and for the involvement of the international community to resolve the conflict and to prevent a worldwide blaze exploding from this fuse,” the 50-year-old major archbishop said.
Ukraine is a country with a population of 44 million people bordering Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Belarus, and Russia.
The Russo-Ukrainian War began in February 2014, focused on the east of the country. The warring parties agreed to a cease-fire in July 2020.
