Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Romans, we learn that righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not just through following the law. Everyone has sinned and falls short of God's glory. Yet, through Christ's redemption, people can be justified freely by God's grace. This gift of justification is open to all, regardless of background. God offers salvation to everyone, both Jews and Gentiles, based on their faith.
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus speaks hypocrisy of those who honor the prophets while still persecuting them. He warns that this generation will carry the guilt for the blood of the prophets throughout history. Jesus points out how the scholars of the law block others from understanding God's wisdom. After hearing his words, the religious leaders start to plot against him, looking for ways to trap him in his teachings.
