Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Galatians, Paul speaks difference between living by the Spirit and following the desires of the flesh. He lists various sinful behaviors and warns that those who choose these ways will not enter the Kingdom of God. He contrasts this with the fruit of the Spirit, which includes love, joy, and self-control. Those who belong to Christ have turned away from their sinful desires and are encouraged to live in the Spirit.
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus addresses the Pharisees. He points out their focus on small religious practices while ignoring important moral duties like justice and love for God. He notes their longing for status and recognition, comparing them to hidden graves that cause others to stumble. Jesus also criticizes the scholars of the law for placing heavy burdens on people without offering any support. This shows a gap between outward religious actions and true compassion.
