Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Daniel's vision, four great beasts rise from the sea. Each beast represents a different kingdom. The first beast looks like a lion with eagle's wings. Its wings are plucked, and it stands like a man. The second beast resembles a bear with three tusks, commanded to consume much flesh. The third beast is like a leopard, with four wings and four heads. The fourth beast is terrifying and powerful, with iron teeth and ten horns. A smaller horn emerges, speaking arrogantly, as the Ancient One takes His throne.
As the vision continues, the fourth beast is destroyed. The other beasts lose their dominion but are allowed to live for a time. Daniel sees one like a son of man coming on the clouds. This figure is presented to the Ancient One and given everlasting dominion and glory. All nations and peoples serve Him, indicating a reign that will never end. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of a fig tree. He shows that signs of the times reveal the nearness of God's Kingdom, affirming that His words will endure beyond heaven and earth.
