Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Revelation, John sees an angel with God's seal. This angel tells four others not to harm the earth until God's servants are marked. These servants number 144,000 and come from the tribes of Israel. John then sees a large crowd from every nation and language. They wear white robes and hold palm branches, proclaiming salvation from God. They worship alongside angels and elders, who offer blessings and praise. An elder explains that these people have suffered greatly and have been cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb.
The Psalm expresses a deep desire to see God's face. It affirms that the earth belongs to the Lord. It asks who may approach God, stating that only those with pure hearts and clean hands can stand in His presence. In 1 John, believers are called children of God, with the promise of becoming like Him when fully revealed. The Gospel of Matthew shows Jesus teaching the Beatitudes. He blesses those who are poor in spirit, mourn, are meek, and seek righteousness. He assures those facing persecution for righteousness that they will receive great rewards in heaven.
