Today’s Catholic Reflection

The Apostles and presbyters, along with the whole Church, came together to address concerns from the Gentile believers in Antioch. They chose Judas and Silas to travel with Paul and Barnabas. These representatives brought a letter that assured the community. It conveyed that the Holy Spirit and the Apostles decided not to impose heavy burdens, only a few essential guidelines. When the letter was read in Antioch, it filled the people with joy.

In the Gospel, Jesus spoke to His disciples commandment to love one another as He loves them. He shared that there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for friends. Jesus called His disciples friends and shared everything He learned from the Father. He reminded them that He chose them to bear lasting fruit. The importance of loving one another was made clear.
