Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Philippi, Paul and Silas encountered a hostile crowd. The magistrates had them beaten and thrown into prison. They were placed in the deepest part of the cell, with their feet locked in chains. Despite their suffering, Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns at midnight. Then, an earthquake shook the prison, opening the doors and freeing the chains of all the prisoners. The jailer, fearing the worst, almost took his own life but was stopped by Paul, who assured him they were still there.
The jailer, filled with fear, asked how he could be saved. Paul and Silas told him to believe in the Lord Jesus, promising salvation for him and his family. The jailer brought them to his home, cared for their wounds, and listened to their words with his loved ones. That night, they were all baptized. The jailer rejoiced with his household for coming to faith in God.
