Today’s Catholic Reflection
As Jesus neared Jerusalem, he sent two disciples to find a donkey and her colt. This act fulfilled a prophecy about a humble king. The disciples followed his instructions, placing their cloaks on the animals for Jesus to ride. A large crowd gathered to welcome him, spreading their cloaks and waving palm branches. They praised him as he entered the city, stirring curiosity among the people who asked who he was. The crowd responded that he was a prophet from Nazareth.
The story then shifts to the events leading to Jesus' crucifixion. Judas Iscariot betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver. During the Passover meal, Jesus revealed that one of his own would betray him. After his arrest in Gethsemane, Jesus faced trials before the religious leaders and Pontius Pilate. Yielding to the crowd's demands, Pilate agreed to have Jesus crucified. He was mocked and tortured, and as he died, darkness fell over the land. His death was marked by significant events, including the tearing of the temple veil and an earthquake, prompting a centurion to proclaim Jesus as the Son of God.
