Today’s Catholic Reflection

Jeremiah feels deep distress as he hears whispers of betrayal and threats from those around him. His friends watch for his mistakes, eager to take revenge. In the midst of this turmoil, he finds strength in the Lord. He believes God will protect him and that his enemies will ultimately fail. Jeremiah seeks God's justice and praises Him for rescuing the oppressed from evil.

In the Gospel, Jesus faces hostility from the Jews who accuse him of blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God. He responds by referencing Scripture, reminding them that those who receive God's word are called "gods." He encourages them to believe in the works he performs, which show his unity with the Father. Though they try to arrest him, he escapes and finds safety across the Jordan. There, many come to believe in him, moved by John's testimony.
