Today’s Catholic Reflection

In 2 Samuel, the LORD speaks to Nathan. He tells Nathan to share a message with David. God promises that David's family line will continue. One of his descendants will build a house for God. This heir will be a king, and his throne will last forever. God will have a close relationship with him.

The Responsorial Psalm reflects this promise. It assures us that David's descendants will be blessed. God's faithfulness will remain through the generations. In Romans, Paul explains that the promise to Abraham comes through faith, not the law. This faith secures the promise for all of Abraham's descendants. The Gospel of Matthew tells the story of Jesus' birth. It highlights Joseph's obedience to the angel's message about Mary. This shows that Jesus fulfills God's promise to David.
