Today’s Catholic Reflection
Azariah prayed in the fire. He asked the Lord to remember His covenant and mercy. He acknowledged the people's sins and their lowly state. They could not offer traditional sacrifices. Instead, he asked to be received with a humble heart, trusting that God would not let them be put to shame. Azariah sought deliverance and glory for God's name, affirming their commitment to follow Him wholeheartedly.
In the Gospel, Peter asked Jesus how often he should forgive someone who sins against him. He suggested seven times. Jesus replied that forgiveness should be given. He told a parable about a king who forgave a servant's enormous debt. Later, that same servant punished another for a much smaller debt. This story shows the expectation of mercy and forgiveness among those who have received it.
