Today’s Catholic Reflection

Moses spoke to the people of Israel about their time in the desert. For forty years, they faced challenges. God tested their hearts to see if they would follow His commandments. They knew hunger, God provided manna, a special food. This taught them that true life comes from God's words, not just from bread. Moses reminded them of their deliverance from Egypt and how the Lord took care of them in the desert.

In the New Testament, Jesus called Himself the living bread from heaven. He promised eternal life to those who eat His flesh and drink His blood. This confused many people, and they wondered how this could be. Jesus explained that sharing in His body and blood is vital for true life. He compared this gift to the manna their ancestors ate. While that bread sustained them temporarily, those who partake in His bread will live forever.
