Today’s Catholic Reflection
In 2 Timothy, the author encourages believers to remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead. He shares his own suffering for the Gospel. Even in chains, the word of God remains free. Those who endure with Christ will share in eternal glory, while those who deny Him will be denied. The author advises the community to avoid pointless disputes and to present themselves as faithful workers, sharing the truth clearly.
The Psalm is a plea for guidance from the Lord. It asks for knowledge of His ways and paths. It acknowledges God's goodness and His role in leading sinners to justice. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus answers a scribe's question greatest commandment. He teaches that loving God with all one's heart, soul, mind, and strength is essential, along with loving one's neighbor as oneself. The scribe agrees, recognizing the value of these commandments, and Jesus acknowledges his understanding, indicating that he is close to the Kingdom of God.
