Today’s Catholic Reflection
In 2 Peter, the author speaks to believers about looking forward to God's return. This will bring an end to the current heavens and earth. A new creation will emerge, where righteousness will flourish. The faithful are encouraged to live pure lives and to seek peace. They should recognize that God's patience allows for salvation and remain alert to false teachings while deepening their understanding of Jesus Christ.
In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus encounters Pharisees and Herodians who try to trap him with a question about paying taxes to Caesar. He sees their deceit and asks for a coin. Noticing it bears Caesar's image, he tells them to give to Caesar what is his and to God what belongs to God. His response leaves them amazed at his insight.
