After Jehoiada died, King Joash listened to the leaders of Judah. He turned away from worshiping the Lord and chose to serve idols instead. The prophets warned the people, but they did not listen. Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada, spoke out and urged them to return to the Lord. In a tragic turn, the king ordered his execution, showing little regard for Jehoiada's loyalty. Soon after, an army from Aram attacked Judah, leading to Joash's downfall.
The psalm speaks of God's unwavering love for David and his descendants. It acknowledges that God will discipline those who stray, but His mercy remains. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that worrying is pointless. He reminds us that we cannot serve both God and wealth. He encourages His followers to trust in God's provision, assuring them that their needs will be met if they seek His kingdom first. Each day has its own challenges, so we should focus on today.
