Today’s Catholic Reflection

In the first reading from 2 Peter, the author wishes for grace and peace to fill our lives through the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. He tells us that God's divine power provides everything we need for life and devotion. This knowledge allows us to share in God's nature and helps us escape the corruption of the world. We are encouraged to build upon our faith with virtues like knowledge, self-control, endurance, devotion, mutual affection, and love.

In the Gospel from Mark, Jesus shares a parable about a vineyard owner who rents his vineyard to tenants. When the owner sends servants to collect the harvest, the tenants mistreat and kill them. The owner then sends his beloved son, thinking they will respect him. Instead, the tenants seize and kill the son. Jesus concludes the parable by saying the owner will punish the tenants and give the vineyard to others, referencing a scripture rejected stone becoming the cornerstone. The chief priests and scribes understand the parable is about them and plan to arrest Jesus, but they fear how the crowd will react.
