Today’s Catholic Reflection

In 1 John, believers are called to love one another as a reflection of God's love. Though no one has seen God, love among people shows His presence. The Spirit from God confirms their connection to Him. Recognizing Jesus as the Son of God creates a bond of love. This perfect love helps them face judgment without fear, suggesting that fear comes from a lack of complete love.

In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus feeds five thousand people and then sends his disciples ahead in a boat while he goes to pray. The disciples struggle against the wind on the sea. Jesus approaches them, walking on the water. They are frightened at first, thinking he is a ghost, but he reassures them. When he gets into the boat, the wind calms, and they are left astonished, realizing they do not fully understand the miracle of the loaves.
