Today’s Catholic Reflection
In 2 Samuel, the LORD speaks to Nathan to share a message with King David. God asks David if he plans to build a house for Him. He points out that He has never lived in a permanent structure since bringing the Israelites out of Egypt. God reminds David of His constant presence and support, granting him victories over his enemies. He promises to create a lasting dynasty for David, assuring him that his lineage will endure forever, and that his future heir will build a house for God's name.
In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus teaches a crowd by the sea with the parable of the sower. He explains how seeds fall on different types of ground, leading to different results. Some seeds are eaten by birds, some wither, and others are choked by thorns. The seeds that land on rich soil produce abundant fruit. Jesus shares that this parable reflects how people respond to the word of God, and only those who understand and accept it will bear fruit in their lives.
