Today’s Catholic Reflection

Samuel confronted Saul about his disobedience to God's command. Saul insisted he had completed his mission. However, he acknowledged keeping Agag alive and taking spoils for sacrifices. Samuel reminded him that God values obedience more than sacrifices. Because Saul rejected God's command, Samuel announced that God had rejected Saul as king.

In the Gospel, Jesus addressed questions about His disciples not fasting like those of John and the Pharisees. He explained that fasting is not suitable while the bridegroom is present. His presence brings joy to the people. Jesus used the examples of new cloth and new wine to show that His teachings cannot be mixed with old traditions. This illustrates the importance of embracing a new understanding of faith and practice.
