Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Isaiah, the Lord speaks of His chosen servant. This servant is filled with the Spirit and brings justice to the nations with gentleness. He will not harm the weak or discourage the faint-hearted. Instead, he will quietly establish justice on the earth. The Lord has appointed him as a covenant for the people and a light for all nations, to open the eyes of the blind and free those in darkness.
In the New Testament, Peter addresses Cornelius. He tells him that God welcomes those from every nation who live righteously. Peter shares the message of peace through Jesus Christ, who was anointed with the Holy Spirit and did good works. The Gospel describes Jesus' baptism by John. In that moment, the heavens opened, and the Spirit of God descended upon Him, affirming His identity as the beloved Son of God. This marks the beginning of Jesus' public ministry and His mission to fulfill righteousness.
