Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the passage from Numbers, the LORD tells Moses to share a blessing with the Israelites through Aaron and his sons. This blessing asks for God's protection, grace, kindness, and peace. When the priests invoke God's name, they assure the people that God will bless them in return.
The Psalm expresses a heartfelt plea for God's mercy and blessing. It asks for His face to shine upon the people. There is a deep desire for all nations to see God's salvation and rejoice in His just rule. The readings from Galatians and Luke highlight the importance of Jesus' birth and the adoption of believers as God's children. This message culminates in the shepherds joyfully proclaiming the infant Jesus, named as the angel instructed.
