Today’s Catholic Reflection

Solomon went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, presenting a thousand burnt offerings at the altar. That night, God appeared to him in a dream and invited him to ask for anything. Solomon humbly recognized his youth and inexperience, asking for an understanding heart to lead the people wisely. God was pleased with this request and granted Solomon great wisdom and understanding. He also blessed him with wealth and glory beyond what he had asked for.

In the Gospel, the Apostles returned to Jesus after their ministry and shared their experiences. Jesus saw that the crowds were overwhelming and invited them to rest in a quiet place. When they arrived, the people were already there. Jesus felt compassion for them, understanding their need for guidance. He began to teach the crowd, showing his care as a shepherd for those seeking direction.
