Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Genesis, God creates man from the earth and breathes life into him. He places man in the Garden of Eden, which is filled with beautiful trees, including the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. A serpent tempts the woman by questioning God's command. She sees the forbidden fruit as desirable and eats it, sharing it with her husband. Their eyes are opened, and they realize their nakedness, prompting them to cover themselves with fig leaves.
The psalm expresses a plea for God's mercy in light of sin. The speaker acknowledges wrongdoing and seeks cleansing and renewal. In Romans, Paul explains that sin entered the world through Adam, bringing death to all. Through Jesus Christ, grace and justification are offered to many. In the Gospel, Jesus faces temptation in the desert. He resists the devil's challenges by relying on Scripture and reaffirms his commitment to worship God alone.
