Today’s Catholic Reflection

In Isaiah 40:1-11, God comforts His people. He assures them that their hardships are over and their sins have been forgiven. A voice calls out in the wilderness, asking for a smooth path to be made for the Lord. This passage reminds us that human life is fleeting, like grass that withers. In contrast, God's word lasts forever. Jerusalem is encouraged to announce the arrival of God, who comes with strength and compassion, like a shepherd caring for his flock.

Psalm 96 carries themes of joy and celebration in God's presence. It invites all nations to sing a new song and proclaim God's glory, highlighting His just governance over the earth. The psalm encourages creation itself, heavens, earth, and forests, to rejoice at the Lord's coming. In Matthew 18:12-14, Jesus shares a story about God's love for each person. He compares it to a shepherd seeking out a lost sheep and rejoicing when it is found. This shows that every individual is valued and cared for by God.
