Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Isaiah, we hear of a leader who will come from the line of Jesse. This leader will be wise and just. He will judge fairly and protect those in need. Peace will flourish, allowing even natural enemies to live together in harmony. The passage ends with a vision of a world where everyone knows the Lord, and all nations will seek this leader, bringing hope and restoration.
The Psalm reflects a longing for a ruler who embodies justice and compassion. This ruler will care for the poor and bring blessings to all nations. In the New Testament, Paul speaks of unity among believers, urging them to welcome one another as Christ welcomed them. John the Baptist prepares the way for the Messiah, calling for repentance and promising a transformative baptism of the Holy Spirit.
