Today’s Catholic Reflection

In the first reading from 1 John, the author speaks of the end times and warns of many antichrists who have appeared. These individuals were once part of the community but have since left. Their departure shows they were never part of it. The faithful, however, have the anointing from the Holy One and know the truth. This knowledge sets them apart from those who spread falsehoods.

In the Gospel of John, we learn divine nature of the Word and its role in creation. Everything exists through Him. John the Baptist is introduced as a witness to the light, which is Jesus, though he is not the light himself. Those who accept Jesus gain the power to become children of God. The passage ends with the significant truth that the Word became flesh and lived among us, revealing God's glory and grace through Jesus Christ.
