Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Isaiah 11:1-10, a prophecy speaks of a leader coming from the line of Jesse. This leader brings hope and renewal. He will be filled with the Spirit of the Lord, offering wisdom and justice. He will judge fairly, especially for those who are poor and suffering. Peace will flourish under his guidance, allowing even natural enemies to live in harmony.
Psalm 72 echoes these themes of justice and peace. It envisions a king who governs with fairness and compassion. This ruler will bring peace and rescue those in need. His name will be blessed forever, and all nations will recognize his goodness. In Luke 10:21-24, Jesus expresses joy in the Holy Spirit. He thanks the Father for revealing truths to the humble. He acknowledges the special privilege of his disciples, who see and hear what many prophets and kings wished to experience.
