Today’s Catholic Reflection

In 1 Corinthians, the speaker shares his experience with the community. He chose not to rely on eloquent speech or human wisdom. Instead, he focused on the message of Jesus Christ and his crucifixion. He approached them with humility and fear. His aim was for his message to show the power of God, so their faith would be grounded in divine strength.

In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus returns to Nazareth and reads from the prophet Isaiah in the synagogue. He proclaims that the Scripture has been fulfilled in their presence. He announces his mission to bring good news to the poor and freedom to the oppressed. The people are initially amazed by his words, but their admiration quickly turns to anger. When he suggests that prophets are often rejected in their own communities, they respond with violence and attempt to drive him out of town. Jesus walks through the crowd unharmed.
