Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the first reading, Jeremiah shares his struggle as a prophet. He feels betrayed by God while facing mockery for his messages. Even though he wishes to remain silent, he cannot hold back the words within him. They burn like fire in his heart, pushing him to speak.
The responsorial psalm expresses a deep longing for God. The psalmist thirsts for Him like a dry land thirsts for water. This yearning leads to praise and worship, recognizing God's kindness as life-giving. In the second reading, Paul encourages believers to offer their lives to God. He speaks of transforming the mind to understand God's will. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of his suffering and death. He challenges Peter and teaches that true discipleship involves self-denial and taking up one's cross. He reminds us that gaining the world means little if we lose our lives, highlighting the importance of our choices.
