Today’s Catholic Reflection

An angel guides the speaker to a high mountain, showing the holy city of Jerusalem. This city shines with God's glory. It has a high wall with twelve gates, each one watched over by an angel. The gates bear the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. The foundation is made of twelve stones, each inscribed with the names of the twelve Apostles. This vision connects the communities of faith from the Old and New Testaments.

In the Gospel, Philip shares the news with Nathanael that they have found Jesus, the one mentioned by Moses and the prophets. Nathanael is skeptical and wonders if anything good can come from Nazareth. When Jesus speaks to Nathanael and reveals that he saw him under a fig tree, Nathanael realizes who Jesus is. Jesus then promises that Nathanael will see even greater things, including a vision of heaven opened with angels moving between heaven and the Son of Man.
