Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the passage from Ezekiel, the LORD tells six men to go through Jerusalem. They are to mark the foreheads of those who mourn the city's sins. A man in linen carries a writer's case and marks these individuals. The others are told to strike down those who are not marked, starting with the elders in the temple. The LORD's glory leaves the temple and rests on the cherubim, who move to the eastern gate, showing the divine presence departing from the city.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus teaches his disciples how to deal with a brother who has sinned against them. He suggests they first speak to the person privately. If that doesn't work, they should bring one or two witnesses. If the person still refuses to listen, they should take the issue to the Church. Jesus assures them that their actions on earth will be reflected in heaven, and he promises to be present among those gathered in his name.
