Today’s Catholic Reflection
In Acts 11:19-26, followers of Jesus fled persecution after Stephen's death. They spread the message of Christ in various regions, initially focusing on the Jewish community. Some, however, began sharing the Gospel with Greeks in Antioch. This led to many conversions. The Church in Jerusalem sent Barnabas to support these new believers. He encouraged them to remain faithful and later sought out Saul to help teach the growing community. It was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
In John 10:22-30, during the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, Jesus is approached by Jews who ask if he is the Messiah. Jesus replies that his works testify to his identity. He notes that those who do not believe are not part of his flock. He assures his followers that they hear his voice and are safe in his care. Jesus speaks of the unity between himself and the Father, affirming that no one can take his followers from him.
