Today’s Catholic Reflection
Peter stood with the other apostles and spoke clearly to the people of Israel. He declared that Jesus, whom they had crucified, is both Lord and Christ. The crowd felt the weight of his words and asked how they could respond. Peter told them to repent and be baptized in Jesus' name for the forgiveness of their sins. He promised them the gift of the Holy Spirit and urged them to save themselves from the corrupt generation around them. That day, about three thousand people accepted his message and were baptized.
The readings highlight themes of guidance and protection. In Psalm 23, the Lord is shown as a shepherd who cares for his followers, ensuring they lack nothing. In the New Testament, Christ is the good shepherd who knows his sheep and offers them abundant life. He stands apart from thieves who seek to harm, showing that true safety and nourishment come through him. Following the shepherd leads to righteousness and a life free from sin.
