Today’s Catholic Reflection
Peter speaks to the crowd in Jerusalem about Jesus of Nazareth. He shares how Jesus performed many miracles and was handed over to death as part of God's plan. Even after being crucified, God raised him from the dead, fulfilling what was foretold Messiah. Peter quotes David to show that Jesus was not left in the grave. He tells them they are witnesses to the resurrection and Jesus' place at God's right hand.
Meanwhile, two disciples walk to Emmaus, discussing the recent events of Jesus' death and the news of his resurrection. Jesus joins them, but they do not recognize him. He explains how the Scriptures spoke of the suffering and glory of the Messiah. When they arrive at their destination, Jesus breaks bread with them. In that moment, they realize who he is. Filled with joy, they hurry back to Jerusalem to share their encounter with the other disciples, confirming that Jesus is risen.
