Today’s Catholic Reflection
The early Christian community experienced a profound sense of unity. Members shared their possessions and supported one another. The Apostles shared their testimony about Jesus' resurrection, and many people responded positively. No one was in need, as those with property sold their belongings. They brought the proceeds to the Apostles, who distributed the money based on each person's needs. Joseph, known as Barnabas, is one example of this generosity. He sold a piece of property and gave the money to the Apostles.
In the Gospel, Jesus speaks with Nicodemus about being "born from above." He explains that, like the wind, the Spirit moves in unexpected ways. Jesus invites Nicodemus, a teacher of Israel, to grasp these spiritual truths. He highlights the necessity of belief in Him for eternal life. He draws a connection to Moses lifting the serpent in the desert, showing how this prefigures His own elevation for the salvation of those who believe.
