Today’s Catholic Reflection

In Galatians, Paul speaks of two women, each representing a different covenant. Hagar stands for the old covenant from Mount Sinai, which leads to a life of slavery. The other woman represents the new covenant, which is free and full of life. Paul tells believers they are children of the freeborn woman. He encourages them to hold on to their freedom in Christ and not return to a life of bondage.

In Luke, Jesus speaks to a crowd looking for signs to validate His authority. He tells them that the only sign they will receive is the sign of Jonah, the prophet who preached to Nineveh. Jesus mentions the Queen of Sheba, who sought wisdom from Solomon. He notes that the people of His time miss the greater truth found in Him. He warns that both the Queen and the people of Nineveh will stand in judgment against those who do not recognize His significance.
