Today’s Catholic Reflection
Ecclesiastes invites us to reflect on the cycles of life. It speaks of a time for every activity under heaven. The text mentions opposites like birth and death, planting and uprooting, weeping and laughing. This highlights the natural rhythm of existence. God has made everything suitable for its time and placed a sense of eternity in our hearts, even if we cannot fully grasp His works.
The psalm acknowledges God as our rock and source of strength. It reminds us of our human frailty and the fleeting nature of life. In the Gospel, Jesus asks His disciples who they think He is. Peter recognizes Him as the Christ. Jesus then speaks of His suffering, rejection, and death, marking these as necessary for His mission. He tells the disciples to keep this revelation to themselves for now.
