Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the first reading from Proverbs, we see the trustworthiness of God's words. They offer protection to those who seek shelter in Him. The speaker asks for two things before death: to stay away from falsehood and to have just enough food. This request comes from a desire to remain close to God. Too much abundance might lead to forgetfulness, while too little could cause dishonesty.
The responsorial psalm highlights the importance of God's word. It serves as a guiding light, steering us away from falsehood. The psalmist cherishes God's law more than material wealth. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus gives the Twelve authority over demons and diseases. He sends them to proclaim the Kingdom of God, instructing them to travel light. They obediently share the Good News and heal the sick in many villages.
