Today’s Catholic Reflection
In the first reading from 1 Corinthians, the author speaks to the community importance of spiritual gifts. He reminds them that these gifts mean nothing without love. Speaking in different languages or possessing great knowledge and faith holds no value if love is missing. Love is patient and kind. It endures through all challenges, and while prophecies and knowledge may fade, love remains the greatest virtue.
The responsorial psalm celebrates those chosen by the Lord. It encourages singing and giving thanks for His trustworthiness and justice. Gratitude flows for the blessings given to the nation that acknowledges God as its Lord. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus compares the current generation to children who do not respond to different messages. He reflects on how people reacted differently to John the Baptist and to Himself, concluding that true wisdom is seen in its fruits.
