Today’s Catholic Reflection
The Israelites were tired and frustrated during their journey in the desert. They complained to God and Moses about leaving Egypt and expressed their dislike for the food they were given. In response, God sent venomous serpents among them, leading to many deaths. Realizing their mistakes, the people asked Moses to pray for them. Following God's command, Moses made a bronze serpent and placed it on a pole. Those who looked at it after being bitten were healed.
In the New Testament, Jesus spoke with Nicodemus event. He compared Moses lifting the serpent to His own crucifixion. Just as the serpent offered healing, Jesus would provide eternal life to those who believe in Him. Jesus shared that God sent Him. This reflects God's love for humanity and His wish for everyone to find redemption.
