Today’s Catholic Reflection
In 1 Corinthians, the author speaks to the community about their faith. He describes them as immature, like infants needing milk instead of solid food. Their jealousy and divisions show their struggles. The allegiance they have to different leaders, such as Paul and Apollos, reflects a worldly mindset. The author reminds them that both leaders are simply servants of God, and it is God who brings true growth and unity.
In the Gospel of Luke, we see Jesus heal Simon's mother-in-law and many others who are sick. After her healing, she begins to serve him and those around her. As news of his healing spreads, people bring their sick to him, and he heals them while silencing demons that know who he is. When the crowds try to keep him from leaving, Jesus explains that he must continue sharing the good news of God's Kingdom in other towns. This is part of his mission.
